#show: bad buddy

when pat comes into pran’s room to flirt in bad buddy episode 7, but notices the door hanger is switched to a sad face before he enters, his entire demeanour changes. he enters in a slightly more cautious way, because he doesn’t know what’s wrong but he knows there’s something.

pran moans that he’s not in the mood to play around (like an accidental admission that all the dumb flirting and trying to tempt one another into admitting their feelings first has been ‘playing around’, because they both already know they’re on the same page), but lets pat in anyway, because he’s always going to let pat in. pat argues that he doesn’t always come to pran’s room just to tease him, and instead makes pran sit down with him, and tries to make pran smile (via nivea micellar water acne care, of course).

he succeeds, because of course he does, and makes pran feel a little better after his shitty day by pretending to clean the sadness off of pran’s face. just the softest, nicest little gesture of comfort to pran, who doesn’t want to talk about it, but who also recognises the kindness of it. he recognises pat’s innate kindness and care towards him.

and so pran responds by, very sweetly and very quietly, picking up his own cotton pad and tracing the shape of a heart around pat’s face.

episode 7 is ostensibly about a competition between pat and pran to see who will break and admit their feelings first, but it’s really just an episode filled with a series of much smaller admissions, and all the different ways they tell each other “i like you”.

honestly it was so funny seeing pran just confusedly ruminate on why tian and phupha were arguing so much over something so silly, like who fell for who first. pat reminding him that they also argued about that is so unhelpful too because… well, we all saw that “argument.” it was less arguing and more horny bickering whilst still actively (probably) sleeping together hshshs

i also love that their whole parent trap plan was to get phupha and tian to get a lil 🫧tipsyyy🫧 and sing a song together. in what world, lads? i’m concerned that they’re working off the base assumption that phupha and tian know how to effectively communicate their feelings to one another, because for pran and pat it comes so naturally. their whole gig is that even when they’re arguing they’re both so confident in their love for one another that it never really even makes a dent (and thus can be turned into fun and sexy foreplay). phupha and tian have such a different relationship - it was built on such a shaky foundation. they liked each other so immediately and so fiercely but it took them years (YEARS!) to get to a place where they could really be together. they also, bless their perfect perfect hearts, couldn’t effectively communicate their feelings out of a paper bag.

(i mean this with complete adoration and affection - phutian are one of my favourite bl couples of all time. they also just happen to suck at talking openly about their feelings lololol. SOMETIMES THAT’S HOW IT IS!! BAD COMMUNICATORS RIGHTS!!)

pat and pran legit just. they argue as foreplay. any disagreement can become sexy if you talk about it enough. and they apparently also use other couple’s arguing as foreplay. absolute menaces. imagine meeting a couple in real life and TWO DAYS AFTER MEETING THEM you start sexy roleplaying as said couple. did tian really put his diary online for THIS? you stay in your new friend’s hut and think “huh i wonder what their sex life was like?” like… ok boys pls calm down???

so glad to see that they clearly haven’t gotten any less horny in their time together. absolute champions of my heart.

the thing about bad buddy is that calling it enemies to lovers is not entirely wrong and is a very succinct and easy way to indicate the general plot, but also one of the only moments that the two main characters are actually personally in conflict with each other lasts about four minutes and is expressed mainly through upset shirtless xylophone playing contrasted with a montage of happy moments that features a time there was triumphant shirt-wearing xylophone playing. and then they both say sorry at literally the exact same time
